My name is Patty, and I’m reaching out because my daughter and I are facing a really tough time. After battling breast cancer and trying to get back on my feet, my parents asked us to leave their home. I did everything I could to find a safe place for us, but it was incredibly difficult—most apartments required income and credit I just didn’t have after months of medical leave. I used all of my disability checks to put down a deposit on an apartment, but that meant I couldn’t pay other bills.
Yesterday, things got even harder. As I was preparing to go to a court hearing my parents filed against me, I discovered my car had been repossessed. Without my car, I can’t get to work or take my daughter to school, and I missed the hearing because I had no way to get there. I’ve tried to work with the dealership, even giving them the last of my money, but the fees keep piling up and I just can’t keep up. On top of that, we’re running low on groceries, and I still need to hire movers to get our remaining things from my parents’ house before we lose them for good.
I’m embarrassed to ask for help, but I’m desperate. I’m returning to work soon, and I just need a little support to get through this rough patch until my first paycheck or my tax refund comes in. Any help you can give would mean the world to me and my daughter. Thank you for reading and for caring.
