Help Patty and Brian in Their Fight

Dear Brigade, Village, Family and Friends,

As Patty and Brian continue to fight this cancer battle, mainly in Orlando, with checkups in Houston at MD Anderson, they yet again are finding themselves in financial need.

Brian continues undergoing chemotherapy weekly. Brian does have a PET scan this upcoming week (19th of June). Follow up doctor appointment is June 24th. Early July is a trip to Houston. These appointments will let everyone know if the treatment is working.

Unfortunately, as of their last visit at MD Anderson, the current chemotherapy treatment was one of the last options the doctors had at that time. They are at a critical time in their long fight against this dreaded disease. The next step will be what is called palliative care. This would mean no chemotherapy, no radiation therapy and no immunotherapy. Palliative care is NOT regular hospice. People remain on palliative care for years and years before they transition to full hospice.

They are currently utilizing home nurses and home health/paramedic students to keep Brian safe, and to offer Patty some peace of mind as she continues to work daily. The home health is not covered by insurance and runs up to $28 an hour. Currently, they are doing five hour visits in the morning to make sure Brian has what he needs for the day and to assist in any way they can. Brian still continues with his dizzy spells and severe changes in blood pressure either going too low or too high. We know Patty and Brian are besides themselves as they find themselves in this position again... starting a Go Fund Me page. But, with a 22-year continuous battle, it can put anyone into financial ruin. And we, as their family and friends, don't want that to happen.
