Hi, my name is Nick Maynard, and I’m fundraising for my dear friend Patton Holaway. If you know Patton, you know the kind of person he is — kind-hearted, selfless, and always ready to help anyone who needs it.
In 2022, Patton was diagnosed with rectal cancer. After radiation and months of recovery, we all hoped that chapter of his life was behind him. But in September 2024, Patton began suffering from severe migraines. A visit to the ER revealed something none of us were prepared for: the cancer had returned — this time spreading to his lungs and brain.
After multiple scans and biopsies, doctors confirmed it was stage 4, the same cancer that had appeared in his rectum two years earlier. They gave him a heartbreaking prognosis of 1–2 years to live. Chemotherapy could have extended that by a few months, but at the cost of his quality of life. Patton chose not to go through with chemo, wanting to spend his remaining time present with his wife and daughters instead of bedridden from treatment side effects.
Since then, his health has continued to decline. He also suffers from degenerative disc disease, which used to be managed with regular epidural injections. Unfortunately, once doctors learned of his terminal diagnosis, they refused to perform further treatments unless he agreed to chemotherapy. Without pain management, his mobility deteriorated rapidly.
Today, Patton is confined to bed, unable to stand, walk, or even bathe without help. His wife Christal is caring for him around the clock while trying to keep up with bills, household needs, and raising their two daughters, Addison and Brooklyn.
Patton’s income is gone, their savings are depleted, and they are now facing medical bills, living expenses, and looming funeral costs. This GoFundMe is to help ease that burden — to give this family one less thing to worry about while they focus on spending what time they have left together.
All funds raised will go directly toward:
• Household bills and living expenses
• Medical costs and supplies
• Funeral and end-of-life arrangements
Patton has been one of my closest friends for 30 years, and it breaks my heart to see him — someone who’s always given so much — now needing our help.
If you can donate, please do. If you can’t, sharing this link and saying a prayer for Patton and his family means just as much.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping this family in their time of need.
With gratitude,
Nick Maynard
