Patricia Vardilos, my dear friend from RL Turner High School, class of 1973, is facing an unimaginable loss. Right before Christmas, her condo home was completely destroyed in a fire and took the entire building down including 8 condo units in Plano, Texas. Pat woke up early Sunday morning hearing a scream, FIRE, get out of your home NOW. The fire took all of her belongings—including her cell phone and the comforts of daily life. In the midst of the chaos, PattiGirl’s only thought was for her three small dogs, and she bravely managed to get them all to safety. As of now, she is relocated into an extented stay temporary housing. Pat is without a vehicle, and without the essentials we often take for granted.

The road ahead for PattiGirl is daunting. She needs to rebuild her life with essentials like clothes, funds for transportation like Uber or Lyft to get around. Even the possibility of a car just sitting in a garage not being used, would be so helpful. Every day brings new challenges, but I know that with the support of our community, she can start to recover and find hope again. Your kindness will help her care for her dogs and begin to put the pieces of her life back together.
