Help Patti with her new kidney
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Megan and I am trying to raise money for my mom who on December 29, 2022, received a new kidney. She lives in Crescent City and will need to travel to University of Florida in Gainesville to see her transplant team once a week for the foreseeable future. My brother and niece, John and Allyssa, will live with her and help her travel since she will not be able to drive and work for at least the next 3 months. This money would be used to pay for gas, medical expenses that the insurance doesn’t cover, and bills since they will not be able to work.
My mom was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease in 2012, with a slow increase in progression until the beginning of 2022. She was given the stage IV in September when she was put on the donation list. It has been a long road for her and she has been very sick here for a while. She got the call for a kidney originally in the end of September, but unfortunately the final type matching wasn’t a match. She was therefore getting ready to get a fistula and be put on dialysis until one was ready. She had her final appointment for vein mapping before the fistula surgery this coming Wednesday. But by the Grace of God, the call for the kidney she has came on the 28th. As of right now, she is recovering very well, the surgeons and doctors are very happy with her numbers and the discharge from the hospital is on Monday with her first appointment with her transplant team on Tuesday, the 3rd.
My mom has always been the backbone of our family. She is the fifth child out of seven, with 4 sisters and 2 brothers, she has five children of her own, and 5 grandchildren. She has always been the fighter, and the most important person in our lives. She has always taken care of her parents, her children, and her grandchildren in the best ways she can even while battling her illness. She has worked almost everyday out of her life, and it will be a major hurdle for her to go though this.
We are eternally grateful for the gift of life that someone had to make that decision for others to live.
