Hi, I am Michelle Bierman and a friend of Patti White. Patti suffered a heart attack and had open heart surgery and a quadruple bypass. She developed sepsis due to a kidney infection and had to have a second surgery. She will have to have a third surgery in about a month for removal of the source of the infection. A very large kidney stone.

After multiple days on a ventilator, Patti was able to get off of it and work her way out of iCU. She started in patient cardio rehab and was able to leave the hospital after 13 days.

This will be a long recovery. Patti will not be able to work for an extended time, and will be in outpatient cardio rehab. She can’t drive and isn’t living by herself due to her heart surgery and infection

Despite this she is very fortunate to be on the road to recovery. She is doing the work to get back to work and her day to day life prior to this medical emergency.

As you know, Patti cares for others. From making sure that children in Tanzania have school uniforms and educational supplies to supporting a self-funded school in Roatan for children of families with HIV, to her 30+ year career in social work, Patti has been there for others.

I know we want her to not have to worry about medical and living expenses while she recovers. Everything will go directly to Patti to make sure she only has to focus on getting better.

She will be out of work for an extended time and this is a hardship.
