Help Patrick's Dad

Donation protected
My son Patrick is a running back for St James varsity football. He is in his senior year. On September18th, around 3 pm,his father, Pat, had sudden cardiac death right next to him while they were playing video games. They were alone, and Patrick was very scared, he did not know what to do at first. But he acted very quickly, called 911, and immediately started giving his father CPR, which ultimately saved his life! Luckily the paramedics arrived very quickly, within 7 Minutes of the phone call. However, if Patrick had not started CPR, his father was facing severe brain damage from lack of oxygen. He would have been dead if Patrick hadn't been there and acted so quickly!! Patrick watched the paramedics rush in and continue CPR with a machine, and then have to shock his father four times with the defibrillator! I cannot imagine as an adult having to deal with something like that and being able to stay calm and think so clearly, let alone being a 17 year old young man, watching this happen to your dad! Speaking to the doctors later, they said if he hadn't acted so quickly his father would not have come back to life. He was in ICU for almost a week, and they would not let Patrick see him after the second day due to a Covid positive test, even though Patrick gave him CPR and lived with him for seven days, and had a negative test. It was excruciating waiting, sitting at home not being able to see his father, not being able to get answers. Luckily we were able to ask the right questions and get the right doctors that were able to answer them and give us some comfort. After many days in a regular room and many tests including an EEG and MRI, his father was implanted with an internal defibrillator. He had one artery that was 90% blocked, which they were able to put a stint in when he arrived at the hospital in Georgetown. Another artery was 100% blocked and they were not able to do anything with it. He will have to see a specialist that will be able to clear it, hopefully. The doctor says he is high risk for sudden cardiac death, and it could happen again at any time. He has done construction for most of his life, and will now need to find another line of work, when he can return ,which will still be a while. I know it's very stressful for him, already missing two weeks of work and looking at many more unemployed weeks. And in that time, he needs to pay for prescriptions, travel to a specialist in Charleston, make car payments, rent payments, bills, Etc. The truck he had purchased a few weeks before his sudden cardiac death, started overheating the day he was picked up from the hospital, probably needs new water pump, so that's also another expense I know he'll be overwhelmed with. Patrick is hoping to get into a college where he can play football, and I know that this will take priority to him over that if we cannot get his father the help he needs. Patrick also has been trying to get his license, but neither me or his father has been able to afford to add him to our policy. It would help tremendously if Patrick could help his father being able to drive a vehicle. Even if a donation is not possible, I know he could use help with rides to get meds, and possibly to doctors visits in the near future. Pat has no other family in SC, and I am trying my best to help, but in a situation myself and an hour away, which limits what I can do. Pat has a sister in PA, but they lost contact and even though they are back in contact due to this, there's only so much she could do now too, especially being so far away. And even if you cannot donate, Please SHARE this!! I know it's a lot to ask,but my son needs his father around, and they'll take all the help they can get, no matter how big or little, every bit will help. And we are all Grateful for any help, sharing, rides, groceries, resources, Anything! The love our friends showed while Pat was in the hospital brought us through this rough time, and showed how kind and thoughtful people can be. I would never have even considered asking for help before this, but this humbles you and shows you people have hearts when you are in such a life changing situation. Thank you in advance for Any help! My son Patrick and his father Pat thank you also.
