Help Patrick recover from severe COVID-19

Those who know Patrick well know him as a healthy, energetic & vibrant man who could always be found on the volleyball court or eating a delicious meal. Shortly after moving from San Diego to Barcelona, Patrick fell ill and tested positive for COVID. He isolated in his apartment with his dear cat Kla, but rather than have his symptoms improve with fluids and rest, they continued to worsen day by day.
By the end of 3 weeks of isolation, he had no appetite, extreme lethargy, vertigo and a severe cough. He called an ambulance which took him to the ER of a private hospital where he was admitted into the ICU with a diagnosis of COVID-19 and multiple bacterial infections in both lungs. He was in the ICU for 4 days.
After being moved from the ICU to a regular hospital room, his private insurance company dropped his coverage without any concrete explanation and despite many phone calls and emails searching for answers, they continue to give Patrick the runaround and deny him coverage.
As of today Dec 28th, he has been in the hospital for 33 days and counting, with no end in sight. He continues to need an oxygen mask and is taking multiple medications. He has lost about 40 pounds and has become gaunt and frail, a far cry from the fit & healthy Patrick from just 2 months ago.
Without insurance coverage, the cost of the ambulance ride, 4 days in the ICU, 5 weeks in the hospital and countless medications has become insurmountable. The lease on Patrick's apartment ends in just a couple of weeks and all of his possessions have been moved into storage as he will not be discharged in time to move out. This means that once he finally leaves the hospital not only will he be drowning in debt, he will also not have a home to which he can return.
If you can find it in your hearts to help my friend Patrick with his medical bills, we would be so incredibly grateful. He has touched so many people's lives in positive ways and it's time to shine that light right back onto him.
