Please Help Patrick Get the Specialist Medical Care He So Desperately Needs

Our story
My name is Jill, I'm raising funds for my beloved husband, Patrick, who has endured years of frightening and debilitating health problems. I'm hoping to give him the opportunity to see specialist doctors who can investigate his symptoms properly and help us find a way forward.

For years, Patrick has struggled with seizures, myoclonus (involuntary muscle twitching), severe anxiety and panic attacks, which sometimes lead to seizures themselves. These episodes can be terrifying, not only for Patrick but also for those who love him. The worst part about all of this is that it can make sleep impossible. It's like a kind of torture and goes on for days, even weeks. This makes life unbearable, he becomes a shell. And yet despite all of this, he tries so desperately hard to live a normal life that many who know him don't even know he has anything wrong.

His symptoms have had a devastating effect on his sleep and quality of life. Recently, he has endured weeks of severe sleep deprivation, leaving him physically exhausted and frightened about what is happening to his body and mind.

Despite treatment with diazepam and pregabalin, he continues to have a very difficult time.

A recent and frightening development.

Following another frightening episode, Patrick's own six-lead ECG device repeatedly flagged possible Atrial Fibrillation (AF), an abnormal heart rhythm that can lead to a stroke.

We went to hospital in the early hours of Monday morning, but didn't get any answers. However, this does not establish what caused the earlier readings, and further readings, and we still need answers about whether Patrick experienced an intermittent heart rhythm problem, and if it has been caused by his years of illness.

Further investigation is urgently needed. We particularly need a consultant neurologist and cardiologist to assess Patrick's symptoms together, so that his neurological problems and possible heart rhythm disturbance can be considered as part of the bigger picture, But this will not be easy to achieve.

After years of struggling, Patrick is exhausted and frightened. He worries about the effect these episodes may be having on his health and feels increasingly discouraged by the lack of answers.

We desperately want him to receive the specialist assessment and support he needs.

Why we are asking for your help,

We are hoping to raise £11,000 to fund private specialist consultations, investigations, Tests and follow-up care, including neurological and cardiac assessments.

We want to understand what is happening to Patrick, whether his symptoms are connected, and what treatment options might help him sleep, feel safer and regain some quality of life.

We appreciate that private appointments and tests cannot guarantee a diagnosis or a cure. What we hope they can provide is a thorough investigation, expert opinions and a clearer plan for managing his condition.

A little about us.

Patrick is my soulmate and the person I love sharing my life with. We have built a life together, and I want nothing more than to see him feeling safer, more settled and able to enjoy life again.

It is difficult to ask for financial help, but we have reached a point now where we feel we need to explore every reasonable opportunity to get him the medical attention he needs. I don't want to lose him.

If you are able to donate, any amount would mean so much to us. If you cannot donate, sharing our appeal with others would also be a tremendous help.

Every contribution will bring us closer to our goal of obtaining specialist medical assessments and finding a way forward for Patrick.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for taking the time to read our story and for any kindness, support or help you can offer.

With love and gratitude,

Jill and Patrick
