This is my beloved brother, Patrick — a fighter, a loving partner, and a devoted father. Patrick has always been the one to make everyone laugh, to bring warmth into every room, and to face life’s challenges with courage and positivity. But now, Patrick is facing the fight of his life — and we’re reaching out for your help.
Seven years ago, Patrick was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. After undergoing surgery, we were full of hope that the worst was behind him. For a while, it seemed that way. But earlier this year, our world was turned upside down when doctors told us that the tumor had returned — stronger and more aggressive than before. Glioblastoma stage 4 — also known as Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) — is the most aggressive and advanced form of brain cancer. It’s classified as a Grade 4 astrocytoma by the World Health Organization, which is the highest (most severe) grade for brain tumors.
Since then, Patrick has endured months of chemotherapy and radiation, doing everything the doctors recommended. Despite all his strength and determination, the most recent scans brought devastating news — the tumor has continued to grow. The next step recommended is Bevacizumab (Avastin), a treatment that may help slow the tumor’s progression, but sadly it is not a cure, but we will exhaust every avenue to overcome this horrific illness.
Recently, we learned about a new and potentially life-saving treatment called CAR T-cell therapy, available in Germany. This ground breaking immunotherapy works by using the body’s own immune system to identify and destroy cancer cells. For Patrick, this could mean a real chance at life — a chance to finally beat this illness once and for all, however we are open to all potential life saving treatments and would welcome any additional opinions or advice based on real world experiences. We like many are not experts in this field, but as a family we will do whatever it takes to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Patrick isn’t fighting this battle alone. He is a loving fiancé to Dannika and a devoted dad to their beautiful 5-month-old son, Koa. Baby Koa has given Patrick the strength and determination to keep going, even on the hardest days. Every smile, every little laugh from his son fuels his will to fight this horrible illness and be there to watch his boy grow up.
Unfortunately, CAR T treatment is not available in our country, and the costs — including travel to both the UK and Germany, medical expenses, and ongoing care — are incredibly high. We are doing everything we can, but we can’t do it without your help.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go directly toward Patrick’s treatment, travel, and recovery. Your support means giving Patrick a fighting chance to continue being the amazing partner, father, brother, and friend that he is.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.
Let’s help Patrick win this fight — for Dannika, for baby Koa, and for all of us who love him.
