Help Patrick Gamez Beat Cancer

In August of 2019, I began my battle with acute Myeloid leukemia. I received my first stem cell transplant in January of 2020 and was looking forward to recovering. Unfortunately, I relapsed in June 2021. After being told there was nothing more they could do to treat me, I fought hard enough for a second stem cell transplant, which I received at the end of July. Since January of 2022, the doctors have been trying to control the leukemia cells in my cerebrospinal fluid. This has proven to be a very difficult task. I decided to seek treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Care Center in Houston, Texas. I underwent an intensive cycle of chemotherapy, but it was not successful in eliminating the leukemia from my bone marrow. They treated the malignant cells in my cerebrospinal fluid by giving me intrathecal injections in my lumbar. The toxicity of the chemo has caused me to lose the function of my legs. I can no longer walk without assistance. Because of all these factors, the doctors here have suggested I focus on the remaining time I have left. I want to be surrounded by friends and family when it is my time. God bless you all. I appreciate all you have done.

This account is on behalf of Patrick Gamez, a dear family friend, brother, and father. Unfortunately we all probably know someone that has fought for their life  due to cancer. Patrick Gamez is one of those fighters. Patrick’s battle began when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer while in high school. I watched his Mother pray for him on a daily basis.
