My name is Laela and I’m posting this GoFundMe on behalf of my dad, Patrick Erickson. My dad has been struggling with TIAs since his heart surgery 7 years ago, but recently he suffered a stroke due to hardening of his carotid arteries. He also was in a motorbike accident that caused him to break a knee cap and sustain a head injury.

We’re trying to get him home for a surgery that could help bypass the carotid arteries and give his brain a chance to heal, and we’ve got a plane ticket for him in September. He was in the ER and has been to multiple specialists. His medical bills are adding up. He’s in Thailand. He has lived there for over 15 years so Medicare/Medicaid will be unable to help. He also needs additional tests to get cleared to fly.

His family has been able to pool together money to buy him a plane ticket but we don’t have the kind of savings to help him cover these medical bills and whatever else may come up that we’re unable to foresee.

So we’re reaching out to our friends and family and even generous strangers to see if you could help. Even a little will go a long way. It is so hard for us to ask for help. We’d really love to be able to hug our dad again.
