Help Bring the Short Film 'The Influencer' to Life

Hi! I'm Patrick. I've been a producer in television for the last 20 years, working on shows such as The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Naked & Afraid and The Quest.

Over the last year, we've seen a downturn in production within the entertainment industry. Many industry workers and professionals suddenly found themselves out of work. As a creator, I couldn't sit still, I wanted to make something and not stand idle... so I took the time to write a script for a short film.

The movie is a short film called "the Influencer." Its a thriller that takes place in the Pacific Northwest. As someone who has amassed a social media following (215k followers on TikTok), I love to explore these themes of impulsivity, fame, recognition, and fear of falling out of the limelight. Not to give too much away, but there's some pretty fun twists woven throughout the story. Once I finished the script, I realized that I wanted to make it. It's exciting, fresh, and fun.

This is a time that's ripe for independent film-making. Creators want to tell passionate stories, not just formulaic sequels and superhero flicks. I have the connections, and talent already lined up, but the film calls for a $50,000 budget.

This budget includes the costs to hire professionals, materials and the logistics of producing the film, as well as the post production process. As someone who values industry workers, I want to make sure that professionals on the project get paid and that corners aren't cut.

Once "The Influencer" is complete, it will be entered into domestic and international film festivals. This could lead the film being expanded into a feature (Napoleon Dynamite) or it could open the door to exciting new opportunities.
