Help Patrick Battle Epilepsy
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Whitney and I’m fundraising to support my husband, Patrick, and our three children as we embark on this journey to battle the effects of a TBI and epilepsy.
As a teen, Patrick was the target of a horrific act of violence while he was living in Ukraine. Somehow Patrick survived the initial assault and a risky, emergency craniotomy was done to relieve the pressure inside of his skull from his swelling brain and remove the fragments of crush bone, he flew to London in a medically-induced coma where he had additional surgeries and amazingly recovered. Despite suffering a traumatic brain injury, Patrick survived, and he returned to a seemingly normal life.
Patrick didn’t begin to have seizures until after our first son was born, in 2011. The seizures began during sleep and though frightening, were rare. Over the past 10 years the seizures have increased in frequency and intensity, and were not controlled by medications.
In our fight to save Patrick’s life, we found a program at NIH where Patrick is currently admitted. The team of specialists are monitoring his seizure activity and are isolating where the seizures are originating in hope that brain surgery will be able to be performed to remove those parts. If all goes as planned, Patrick have a long stay at NIH and a lengthy home recovery ahead of him.
please consider making a contribution to help ease the stress on our family while Patrick is battling the effects of his TBI and epilepsy.
