Help Us Support Patricio in His Fight Against Cancer
Today we want to share the story of Patricio, a man full of life, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, but who is now facing one of the most difficult battles of his life: a fight against cancer that has lasted more than three years.
In February 2023, Patricio was diagnosed with colon cancer, which required emergency surgery. Unfortunately, after that operation, he suffered complications that forced him to undergo a second surgery, resulting in a permanent colostomy. Despite the harshness of the treatments, his strength never faded. Over the months, he faced multiple chemotherapy sessions while going through a long recovery process.
However, in 2024, his fight took an unexpected turn when cancerous nodules were detected in his abdomen and lungs. Chemotherapy continued, but in 2025 doctors indicated that it was no longer having the desired effects. At that point, palliative care became part of his life, but complications continued to arise. In September 2025, the results were devastating: metastasis was found in his pelvis, specifically in the sacral and iliac bones, as well as significant nodules (9.5 mm) in both lungs and in the lower part of his lumbar spine.
The most recent blow came in March 2026, when doctors detected metastasis in his brain, which has caused partial facial paralysis and serious difficulty speaking. Despite the severity of his condition, Patricio remains a man full of courage and continues forward with the hope that each day is a new opportunity.
The pain is not only physical, but also financial.
The illness has left him unable to work, creating major financial difficulties. His treatment is being carried out at SOLCA, an institution that has been fundamental in his fight. However, Ecuador’s social security system no longer has an agreement with this institution, meaning he no longer has medical coverage to continue the treatments and consultations he urgently needs.

Patricio has been a loving father and a grandfather who spoils his grandchildren with all the love only a grandfather can give. He is a man who, despite adversity, continues to show sincerity and dedication to hard work. Today, he needs the same generosity and support that he has always given to others.

Ayúdanos a apoyar a Patricio en su lucha contra el cáncer
Hoy queremos compartir la historia de Patricio, un hombre lleno de vida, siempre dispuesto a dar una mano a quien lo necesite, pero que ahora enfrenta una de las batallas más difíciles de su vida: una lucha contra el cáncer que ya lleva más de tres años.
En febrero de 2023, Patricio fue diagnosticado con cáncer de colon, lo que requirió una cirugía de emergencia. Lamentablemente, después de esa operación, sufrió complicaciones que lo obligaron a someterse a una segunda cirugía, terminando con una colostomía permanente. A pesar de la dureza de los tratamientos, su fortaleza no se desvaneció. A lo largo de los meses, enfrentó múltiples sesiones de quimioterapia, mientras pasaba por un largo proceso de recuperación.
Sin embargo, en 2024, su lucha dio un giro inesperado cuando se detectaron nódulos cancerígenos en su abdomen y pulmones. La quimioterapia continuó, pero en 2025 los médicos indicaron que ya no estaba teniendo los efectos deseados. En ese momento, los cuidados paliativos se convirtieron en parte de su vida, pero las complicaciones seguían apareciendo. En septiembre de 2025, los resultados fueron devastadores: se encontró metástasis en su pelvis, específicamente en los huesos sacro e iliaco, así como nódulos considerables (9.5mm) en ambos pulmones y en la parte inferior de su columna lumbar.
El golpe más reciente ocurrió en marzo de 2026, cuando los médicos detectaron metástasis en su cerebro, lo que ha provocado parálisis parcial de su rostro y serias dificultades para hablar. A pesar de la gravedad de su situación, Patricio sigue siendo un hombre lleno de valentía, y sigue adelante con la esperanza de que cada día es una nueva oportunidad.
El dolor no solo es físico, sino también económico.
La enfermedad lo ha dejado sin la posibilidad de trabajar, enfrentando grandes dificultades económicas. Su tratamiento está siendo realizado en Solca, una institución que ha sido fundamental en su lucha. Sin embargo, el seguro social de Ecuador ya no tiene convenio con esta institución, lo que significa que no cuenta con cobertura médica para continuar con los tratamientos y las consultas que tanto necesita.

Patricio ha sido un padre amoroso y un abuelo que consiente a sus nietos con todo el amor que solo un abuelo puede brindar. Es un hombre que, a pesar de las adversidades, sigue mostrando su sinceridad y trabajo constante. Hoy, él necesita de la misma generosidad y apoyo que siempre ha dado a los demás.
