Help Patricia Montgomery Keep Her Home

Since January 2025, Patricia Montgomery has been searching for employment as an Administrative Assistant. I have applied for over 400 positions on Indeed and searched for positions at every large grocery store in Concord, Walnut Creek, and Oakland. So far, no job offers. In the meantime, paying my monthly rent of $1,959.00 has been tough. By the end of March, the amount owed in rent was $5,877. I was notified to move out if this amount was not paid in full. With no job offer, an angel and I paid the back rent at the end of March 2025. The employment search continues as each day passes, with May 1st only 11 days away.

I moved into Vintage Brook Senior Apartment on July 14, 2022, and my rent was $1,804.00. Even though this place is listed as Senior Apartments, there has been a yearly rent increase. In November 2024, the increase was 5%. My rent now is $1,959.00 a month. After some research, this increase complies with the City of Concord's ordinance, which allows a 5% increase for the year. In this short period, my rent has increased by $155.00, which is more than in all the years I've lived in Oakland, CA.

My home is not just where I live, but it's also my creative studio, where I design swing coats, other textile projects, and teach creative workshops.
