In November of 2024, our mom, Patricia (Patty) Delozier, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Due to the aggressive nature of the cancer, she spent some time in Hershey Medical Center receiving her very first round of chemotherapy. Several weeks later she was able to return home for Christmas to be home with her grandsons, Reese and Paxton, and the rest of our small family. Due to many circumstances, mom's only option is preventative chemotherapy monthly for the rest of her life. For 6 months, mom was receiving monthly chemotherapy infusions. By March of 2025, we started receiving medical bills for the treatments, hospitals stay, appointments, ambulance rides, etc., all of which were balances that her insurance did not cover.
In August, an ambulance had to take mom to the hospital for back pain to then discover compression fractures in her spine. Once again, due to circumstances, rehab and the fractures needing to heal on their own were our mom's only options. Shortly after discovering the fractures and a first attempt at rehab, it was discovered that mom had developed two very serious staph infections surrounding and within the fractures of her spine which hospitalized her for over a month. Rehab was attempted a second time, followed by another lengthy hospital stay.
Mom is now on her third attempt at rehab and before this all began in the summer, her goal was to be able to return home after rehab. After all of the hospital stays and failed attempts at rehab, mom is too weak to safely return anytime in the near future.
On top of the medical bills that are steadily coming in, we are now faced with longer term nursing home care which insurance does not cover. Meanwhile, her home needs to be maintained and unfortunately, the needs are starting to outweigh the means. Therefore, my sister and I are asking for help on our mom's behalf as we are no longer able to comfortably manage the expenses. There are just far too many.
Even if you are unable to donate, if you could please share this GoFundMe, we would be so very grateful.
If you know our mom, you know that asking for help is not something that would come easily for her, which is why we are asking on her behalf. Please know she would be sincerely grateful for some relief from these additional burdens. Please keep the thoughts and prayers coming as well for her comfort. Mom enjoys knowing and hearing that people are thinking about her.
With gratitude,
Corinne and Kim
