My name is Sonja, and I am reaching out because my dear friend Patricia urgently needs major roof repairs. Two weeks ago, she woke up to water dripping on her body and bed during the first rain. We are fundraising to keep Patricia and her beloved cat, Grammy, dry through the winter and for years to come.

Patricia is a senior who lives alone in California with no close relatives nearby. Patricia is like the older sister I never had. She is kind, thoughtful, caring, proactive, and very responsible. Patricia has lived in her home for 13 years and has maintained good standing with her mortgage company - she has never missed a mortgage payment. However, Patricia had several medical issues arise over the past seven years which prevented her from working and earning an income. Before having to leave the workforce, Patricia devoted her career as a child welfare social worker. Among her many skills were her abilities to research resources and to advocate for one’s needs. Despite utilizing these skills and making numerous calls for assistance, she has only reached dead ends. Throughout Patricia’s life, she gave countlessly to others in need, and now she is in need. This roof has created significant uncertainty and distress. I am very concerned about my dear friend's health and habitability of her home.

For Patricia and Grammy’s overall well-being, it is essential to repair her roof promptly. Due to the style of the home, a new flat roof must be installed and she was recently quoted $10,000 to replace it. Patricia urgently needs your financial support.
