Help Patients at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
Hi, my names Debielee Mckenzie and I'm fundraising money to help ward 206, 207 and HDU at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
I became a patient at ARI August 2024 where I spent nearly 7 months between these 3 wards. The care I recieved from the doctors and nurses was simply amazing and I wouldn't be here without them today.
I was diagnosed with severe Pancreatitis and at the time I didn't even know what that was. I was admitted via an ambulance and then spent 3 days in a coma where my wife, family and friends were told there was a 99% chance I wasn't going to make it and it was down to me to fight. Well guess what I did and here I am today!
I am now home after 7 months and I still have a long recovery to go. I am due another surgery once I'm a little stronger and currently still being fed by a nose tube along with learning to walk again. My pancreatitis was caused by my gallbladder with some stones blocking a duct causing all the issues.
I'm hoping to raise money to help other patients in these wards during their stay with what was lacking when I was in. I'm hoping to raise money to provide patients with more fans as not everyone had one and summer will soon be here! Wheelchairs was very limited to allow patients to get off the ward for a little bit so my aim is to try and get at least 1 wheelchair! The staff was also looking to provide comfier chairs to visitors on the wards especially for the ones who have a long stay.
I would like to say I am running a marathon or a sky dive etc but unfortunately I am not able and just hoping for donations to help as much patients as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for donating!
