“Sometimes you go to the store just like on any other night and your house burns. It’s not like you think this is going to happen, ever, but it does. It happens to you. Tonight our house burned.” - Pat Wiles
Pat, Robert and Haleigh are compassionate members of our community who are in need of our support.
They are grateful that everyone, including their much loved pets, are OK. Nearly everything in their home is gone. I’m tempted to think it is just “stuff” but the truth is, they have lost some things their hearts will forever miss. It was stuff that was important to them. Stuff that is needed to get through a regular day. Stuff that is needed to move forward. Stuff that they need to replace.
They are currently displaced indefinitely. They were able to take very little with them as their home has expensive damage from fire, smoke and water. They do not have clothes, pajamas, shoes, toiletries, etc.
From talking to a friend who experienced a house fire, it is most helpful for them to be able to purchase exactly what they need versus accepting donations of clothes, etc. This keeps them from being overwhelmed by having to sort through, store and move items as they rebuild their lives. We may put out targeted calls for items, but for now cash donations are most in need.
You may know Pat as a renowned award winning artist, from her years of involvement in 4-H including leading the Creative Kids Club, as the teacher at your kids summer art camp, from her volunteer work with Fremont Civic Theater or a myriad of other places around town. Pat gives and gives and gives.
You may know Robert as a senior at CCHS. Did you hear he will be majoring in computer science at CSU next fall? Maybe you know his incredible work ethic as conductor on the Royal Gorge Santa Train or his dedication as section leader in the Tiger Pride Marching Band. Robert is a guy going places.
You may know Haleigh from her many years of dancing with Anita McCoy. Maybe you know of her care and devotion to her chickens in the 4-H program. She just entered high school this year and is already making her place.
Thank you for your love for Pat, Robert and Haleigh! They deserve it all and would be the first to jump in to help another family in this situation.
