Help Pat Stay in her Home
Donation protected
I am reaching out to ask for help for my friend Pat. I met Pat in the most unlikely of places - the gym. Pat is a double amputee, who came looking for advice on how to decrease her leg pain and gain strength to help her move in and out of her wheelchair. At the time, Pat was also experiencing homelessness. As you can imagine, Pat's surgeries and the 5 years in rehab centers recovering from the initial leg beak, amputation, knee dislocation and second amputation left her without any savings. Pat spent 4 months on the streets, trying to charge her power wheelchair outside of businesses - without a full night charge, her chair dies during the day and she has to call the fire department for help. Wheelchairs also do terrible in the snow and ice, and she has tipped into ditches, crosswalks and sidewalks.
Pat was recently able to find an apartment, but due to a fraudulent deposit in her account, has been locked out of her bank account and fallen 2 months behind on rent. She needs an extra 400$ a month to pay her back rent and avoid eviction.
Pat's family is not local, so she has been relying on community members to help her find what she needs.
Pat has a sassy, feisty spirit and really just needs a break to adjust to her new normal and keep her safe in her home. I would love to see Pat with a cushion so that she doesn't have to worry about paying her bills and losing her new place. Please help her out.
