Many know Patrice affectionately as Mama Hester or Auntie Shane. As the eldest of 5, she is extremely family oriented and is quick to adopt any friends of her children as her own and has left a great impact on many people’s lives.

After the death of her husband Dino Hester in 2000, she and her three daughters hopped on a train for a new life in California. These past 20 years in San Diego have truly been a blessing, meeting so many wonderful friends that have become family.

In September of 2021 she was diagnosed with Uterine cancer. Due to the pandemic filling the hospitals at the time, her surgery kept getting pushed back until it was finally performed in February of 2022. Things were going well for a few months but she, unfortunately, started experiencing pain and losing weight. After another series of tests, it was confirmed that the cancer had spread and is now at stage 4.

The funds shared here would go towards treatment, transportation, accommodations and medications.
