Help Pastor Will Bear The Burden Of Cancer Gal.6:2

Donazione protetta
Already being a type 1 diabetic, Will Fountain, full time pastor of Brazos Valley Cowboy Church in Bryan, Texas has been diagnosed with an aggressive squamous cell carcinoma cancer. The cancer started in his nasopharynx and moved into multiple lymph nodes in his neck, the base of his skull, and right jaw. He has already had a few surgeries and is now being treated 5 days a week with radiation along with weekly chemotherapy.

Wow! To even type this is difficult. When we received the news, Mark, my husband, cried and asked, “When is it all going to stop?” This was our friend and, in our hearts, forever pastor. Praise God the doctors believe it is curable, but it will be a very tough process! As most know, the expenses of cancer medical treatment mount up VERY quickly.  Through this trying process a very large financial burden has been placed on Pastor Will.  In the beginning, Will was between insurances. He was finally able to get coverage, but with an extremely high deductible.
Much was placed on credit cards to get the process moving because of the dire situation. We feel he is going through enough and we want to help alleviate a financial crisis.
Many ask why bad things happen to good people. One reason may be that it gives us the opportunity to help.  Galatians 6:2

As was commented concerning Will on Facebook, “Your yielded life is special to so many” and “You are a light that many need”, therefore, we are “absolutely in your corner....”
I will never forget the day Mark met Will for the first time at what is now Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, Texas.  I want to share my heart about that later, but first I want to tell you about Will’s heart.
During a recent conversation with Will, I listened to a man who is going through  quite a trial. I could tell he was struggling, but what I heard was optimism and a FAITH BEYOND COMPARE. (That shouldn’t have surprised me after knowing him so long.)  Along with chemotherapy, the radiation treatments on the neck and head have been referred to as BRUTAL. (Already he is fighting nausea, his taste buds and saliva glands have stopped working. His tongue is caked and sticking to the top of his mouth. The pain in his jaw makes it difficult to open his mouth fully. His throat is red and irritated. He isn’t eating solid food now (I thought about those Roadhouse rolls he loves so much.) and even drinking water is hard. His diet consists of Ensure.)

When we talked about the future, Will told me the doctors informed him the process may get harder explaining that blisters may develop in his throat and a feeding tube may have to be put in, but then immediately, in a very upbeat manner, he said, “But God’s got me. He’s had me my whole life and he’s not going to let me down now."
Even with all this, he began talking about his children and the fact that he would do ANYTHING not to rock their little world and how he wanted to keep things as normal as possible for them. When I asked him if they were alright, his response gripped my heart. He said, “My children will be alright because I WILL BE ALRIGHT."  There’s that FAITH again!

Whew! (Stop crying, Mary)

Now, I want to get back to how we met Will because I want you to know the difference knowing him has made in our family. It’s gratefulness that fuels this desire to ensure he continues in his calling.

I will never forget the day Mark (my husband) met Will. He came home and said, “I met this young man and we JUST HIT IT OFF!” (I can’t tell you how many times throughout the years Mark has walked away from a conversation with Will or got off the phone with him and said, “He is just such a delight!”) Who would have ever thought that first meeting would TRULY lead to some of THE best years of our lives for many reasons. Mark became this young worship leader’s drummer.

All 4 of our children took to Will, but, especially our Lacy. She would CONSTANTLY follow him around as he was setting up for church to fill him in on ALL the happenings of a 4 year old. She also made it VERY clear that the seat next to Will was reserved for HER. He was always so patient. It was Will who gave Lacy her first bible and Will who, by her choice, re-baptized her at the age of 10.

By then, Will had become the senior PASTOR at B.V.C.C. and Mark had become Pastor Will’s worship leader.

We were proud of this milestone in Will’s life as we have been of each of them. Will had also become a dad. NOW, I WAS HOOKED! I taught his children and they have touched my heart like no other. They are some great well-mannered kids and oh my, can they pray! Our oldest daughter loved taking sneak pictures of Will with his children. We all admire how loving of a father he is, BUT then again he IS Waymon’s son. (B-Pop LOVED kids!)

It was under Will that we learned what true perseverance, strength, and faith looked like and our children learned what it truly meant to serve. We have never seen him angry or even heard him raise his voice. We’ve watched him forgive and focus on the good even when it comes through tears. He has shown us what it TRULY MEANS TO STAND!
The enemy failed to take Will out earlier in the year through another unwanted circumstance that was out of his control, so we, along with many others, believe this is another attempt to shut down his ministry.

It was worded perfectly on Facebook.
Lynn and Tammy both said, “You’ve been a testament your entire life.”
Jerry said, “I’ve watched God’s hand on you since you were a child. He’s not through”. AMEN!

P.S. NO AMOUNT GIVEN IS TOO SMALL, but if you can’t give, please keep him, (his vocal cords etc.) his family, (especially his children ages 5-12) and the church in your prayers.
