Pastor Pat, aka my mom, truly has a servant's heart. She continually makes sacrifices in order to help others.
For the past 14 years, she has served, and continues to serve, as Pastor Pat at a small country church, driving over an hour each way to minister to the congregation. They, as well as countless others, have been enormously blessed by her. It's time now to bless her in return by helping her pay off her student loan.
I realize that many single parents have similar stories of hardship, trials, and compassion, and I applaud them. My mom has served and given of herself for her whole life, and she deserves to have a debt-free retirement. Thank you so much for your generosity. God bless you!
When my dad left shortly after I was born, my mom began the long journey as a single parent. Yet, she persisted. She enrolled in seminary, feeling the call to become a minister. She took out a sizable student loan in order to attend school full time without working.
Her reason for not working? Me. It was more important to her that she have quality time to raise me well and teach me to always do my best. After classes, her evenings were all for me; she stayed up late to do her school work.
She graduated with amazing grades and earned her Master of Divinity. Once she began ministry, we had to treat me for several health problems. As an adult, I am conscious of how much time and money she spent getting me well. Yet, I never knew of it then, never felt like a burden, and never doubted I was loved fully. She was, and is, gracious and so caring.
When her mother was no longer able to live on her own, my mom packed us up to move back home and care for Grandma. For seven years, my mom worked hard, still raising a teenager, and cared for her mother until her passing. After that, she took in a teenager from a broken home and cared for her as her own daughter.
She continues to serve as Pastor Pat at her country church. She loves it and the people! However, because of her caring for others, taking care of so many, and putting herself last, she still has the outstanding debt of her student loan.
This month marks the 25th anniversary of her ordination and graduation. When she graduated from seminary, she owed over $23,000, and still owes $11,000. As she is at the age for retirement now, I would love to help her pay off her student loan, enjoy a debt-free retirement, and be able to serve more people. Thank you for helping me to bless her in this way. You are very much appreciated!
