Help Pastor Felecia Fight Cancer

Hi, I am Will Matthews and I am Nadine Matthews, and we are fundraising to support our parents as our mom fights breast cancer.

Backstory:

A couple of months ago, we received the call no child wants to receive - our mom told us there was a lump in her breast that she needed to get checked out (biopsy). The doctors didn't take long to return with a diagnosis of stage 3 cancer. The summer was quite a blur as the doctor recommended moving quickly to remove the cancer and any infected lymph nodes. With a course of treatment in place (mastectomy, potential chemo/radiation, and reconstruction) a ton of prayer and faith, mom went under the knife. The doctors felt confident about the surgery, and there was even a chance she wouldn’t have to undergo radiation/chemo. Still, as mom started the recovery process, it was decided that chemo and radiation were needed.

How it's going:

We are overwhelmed by the spirit, bravery, and hope our mom has shown throughout this process. The regimen of weekly chemo, wound care, and post-surgery rehab has taken a toll on her body but not on her spirit. We don't know anyone more excited to fight and live!

Moneys Use:

Recently our dad has also had health struggles that have impacted his ability to work (kidney failure from diabetes, severe back pain, multiple bouts of pneumonia etc). Currently, he is on peritoneal dialysis and waiting on a kidney. Any money raised by your generous donations will go towards settling outstanding medical bills and caring for mom and dad’s monthly obligations. Fighting cancer is much more than the medical process (which we know is astronomically expensive). It’s about supplying mom’s body with nutrient dense foods and supplements to help her heal from the inside out, and keeping her stress free to enable her to focus her strength on this fight.

Call to Action:

One of the most incredible things about our mom is her heart and passion for other people. Growing up, it was apparent that she would give all she had for people no matter what was going on in our life. For years our mom would collect turkeys for Thanksgiving and show up at people's houses with baskets full of food, so people had good food. We would open up our home during the Holidays, especially for Thanksgiving, so people without family could eat and enjoy being loved. Even now, mom is on call to give a word of prayer, lend some loving advice, or sit up on the phone talking. She has consistently led a prayer group that prays for and supports people all over the world for years. Many people have been touched by her life and ministry. Couldn't be prouder of her, and the sacrifice is wholeheartedly given for one and all. We ask that if our family, parents, and our mom have helped, prayed, loved, or been there for you, please consider supporting her.

We still hear stories of the impact of the life of our parents. They have changed lives through God's love, and now it is our turn to return the favor. We appreciate your help and support as we rally around mom and fight together for her health.
