Help Pastis the rescue kitten get ready for his forever home
Donation protected
This is the story of how Phoenix, a puppy, and Pastis*, a kitten, became best friends :)
One rainy Sunday afternoon in Marseille, Phoenix decided he wanted to eat the equivalent of 1% of his body weight in chocolate cake (relatable, right?). One emergency vet visit and stomach pumping later, he walked back into the lobby of the vet's office to find Pastis curled up, sleeping peacefully in a carrier next to the receptionist.
Pastis was found on the street that same day by an animal lover who wanted to make sure he got the care he needed, because she couldn't take him in herself. She already had two cats, and she thought Pastis had an infection that was contagious to other cats. She brought Pastis to the emergency vet hoping they could take him in, but their office wasn't equipped to board animals.
So Phoenix thought...you can come home with me!
The next day, Pastis visited Phoenix's regular vet for a proper checkup. The vet said he had coryza (a type of feline influenza) and a perforated ulcer, and gave him a series of eye drops, creams, and essential oils to get him on the mend.
Pastis returned home to Phoenix for some post-vet cuddle sessions, and they lived happily ever after!

In all seriousness, I'm fundraising for Pastis' veterinary and home care until he's placed in his forever home, because I'm unable to keep him in the long term. He needs a lot of medical treatment for the next few weeks and the cat rescues in Marseille are all inundated with their own challenges, so they're currently unable to find him a new foster family/famille d'acceuil - so I will act as his foster family for the time being! We already have a few people interested in adopting him and giving him a comfortable life. :)
Here is a breakdown of the costs so far and anticipated expenses to come until we find his forever home:
160€ - initial vet visit and medicine
135€ - weekly follow-up vet visits to evaluate his progress and whether additional treatments are needed (45€ per visit x3)
50€ - litter and food for 1 month
15€ - transportation home from emergency vet
15€ - toys and treats so Pastis doesn't destroy Chelsea's furniture :)
-75€ donation already received prior to launch of GoFundMe
= 300€ total
Thank you so much for anything that you're able to contribute to Pastis' care! <3
*For those who don't know, pastis is Marseille's aperitif of choice - a proper name for un vrai chaton marseillais ;)
