Help Protect Arizona Families from Unfair Bankruptcy Laws
Arizona families are at risk, and we need your help. I am raising funds (with the blessing of ACBC) to hire a lobbyist to fight for three critical bills in the Arizona Legislature—bills that will protect homeowners, families, and struggling individuals from devastating financial consequences.
The Problem
Some terrible court decisions in the past two years mean:
- Families can lose their home if they live in an RV, houseboat, or other non-traditional dwelling.
- Trustees continue to seize child tax credits and earned income tax credits, taking essential funds meant for food, rent, and childcare.
- Homeowners in bankruptcy can lose their homes due to market appreciation, even if total equity is below the homestead exemption amount.
The Solution: Three Bills That Will Fix These Problems
We have already been successful in finding a sponsor who has introduced three bills:
✅ SB 1540 – Ensures homestead protections extend to ALL primary residences, including RVs, trailers, and houseboats.
✅ SB 1542 – Protects families' child tax credits and earned income tax credits so they can afford basic necessities.
✅ SB 1543 – Stops creditors from forcing home sales just because home values increase during bankruptcy.

Passing laws isn’t easy. Without a lobbyist fighting for these bills at the Capitol, they may never get a fair chance. We need to hire a skilled lobbyist who can educate lawmakers, navigate the legislative process, and ensure these bills get the support they deserve.
