Help Parker Fight Chronic Lyme!
Parker is a 15-year-old boy entering his sophomore year at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois. If someone had to describe Parker they would say that he is smart, funny and always gives a room a laugh when he walks in.
The last year he has been plagued with the awful effects of Chronic Lyme Disease. Parker has struggled with health issues from the time he was 7 years old. He had sleep issues and a compromised immune system. Little did we know that he was fighting Lyme at this time.
This year has been the worst. He has gone from a lively 15-year-old to a someone that can barely get out of bed. He has tremors in hands. He has migraines that are debilitating. He sleeps 18 hours a day. We went as far as to have a neuro-psychic evaluation to make sure this wasn't depression or some other psychological issues. He was not able to attend school. For the school year 2017-2018 he attend 42 days of the entire year. The school has provided him with homeschooling, but this lively 15 year old has gone from having friends and attending school to being bed ridden every day.
We sought out medical professionals from all over the Chicagoland area to find out what was wrong with Parker. He was diagnosed in April with Chronic Lyme with Bartonella co-infection. Once we found out what was causing the fatigue, tremors, neurological problems we now had an answer and how to move forward.
Anyone who knows anything about Chronic Lyme is that there is no easy path to recovery. Chronic Lyme is not recognized by general medical practitioners. It is recognized overseas and it is recognized by some Medical Doctors, but few and far between.
Parker's mom lives in California. Parker's father is taking care of both boys on his own. He is has taken the reigns and has been running to get Parker healthy and the challenge is greater since he is doing it all alone.
There is a course of action and care for Parker now, but it is NOT covered by insurance. He will be getting a port and getting IV treatment. This treatment is expensive, and after speaking to many people who have suffered like Parker it has changed their life to receive these IV treatments. Parker's dad has not been able to work much as he has gone from being a dad a few times a week to every other weekend to a full-time dad. His days consist of doctor appointment after doctor appointment and being home for the homebound school tutors. The money is raised is strictly being used for Parker's treatment.
The cost of Parker's treatment plan is $40,000. Good news is we got some major assistance and the cost out of pocket to us is going to be $26,800, which seems much more manageable. We are asking for your assistance in helping get Parker healthy, so he can go on and live a normal productive life. No donation is too small. Thank you in advance for your help!
