"Hello, my name's Paris, and I am currently running the survival race with stage 4 Triple Negative Breast Cancer."
No one is ever ready to hear, "You have Cancer" there's no way to prepare. In addition, the burden/impact the disease has on a family, emotionally, mentally and financially, doesn't make the process any easier. She's a mother of 4 beautiful children & 2 grandchildren. Weathering the storm of 1 diagnosis was "OK" due to savings and financial help from relatives. 2nd & the 3rd diagnosis was a kick in the throat. But here's Paris's story from the beginning.
"On April 4th, 2020, I went in for a routine mammogram check-up, and results came back they found abnormalities. On April 30th, I went in for my biopsy of the findings. June 5th, 2020 -- I received the devastating news. My biopsy confirmed that I had stage 1 Triple-negative breast cancer. That moment changed my and my family's life in seconds. I'm usually the tough one but hearing that broke me. I felt hopeless, looking at the fear in my children's faces; I didn't know what to expect going forward. I knew that living in fear wouldn't be a great idea. I heightened my faith in GOD because I know his love reaches the root of cancer that threatens to steal my hopes and dreams."
What is TNBC? Triple-negative breast cancer is a kind of breast cancer that does not have any of the receptors that are commonly found in breast cancer.
Think of cancer cells as a house. The front door may have three kinds of locks, called receptors—
One is for the female hormone estrogen
One is for the female hormone progesterone
One is a protein called the human epidermal growth factor
If your cancer has any of these three locks, doctors have a few keys (like hormone therapy or other drugs) they can use to help destroy the cancer cells.
But if you have triple-negative breast cancer, those three locks aren’t there. So doctors have fewer keys for treatment. Fortunately, chemotherapy is still a practical option.
To better understand the cost of Paris's treatment and where your donations will go, I have listed specific costs that are NOT covered by insurance.
Nutritional therapy - Food cost for juicing, vitamins/supplements, & detoxing = $1400 a month.
Oxygen therapy, Immunotherapy, High PH therapy, Alkaline Protocol, Whole body Detoxification, Organ Cleanse, Lymphatic Massage = $800/month
Travel from Sacramento -> Bay Area & Arizona, hotel stay after treatments $1500/month.
SO LET'S BEGIN THERAPY; I WANT TO LIVE --
"When my oncologist told me that I needed a chemo port as part of my chemo treatments, I was in shock for many reasons. Port placement was the first procedure after many months of hardcore chemo, surgeries and radiation. Port placement scars are the souvenirs of surviving breast cancer chemotherapy.
During my aggressive treatment plan (8 weeks Adriamycin and 12 weeks Taxol), my oncologist noticed that my tumor didn't fully respond to the chemo medications. However, the tumor did shrink and size, so they approved going in and performing the lumpectomy. Then onto chemo with radiation. Not used to having scars on my body, it took a toll on me, but it was the least of my worries; I just wanted to survive. The radiation burned me; Chemo took youth from me, turning my nails black, losing my hair, losing my nails, nose bleeds, memory and concentration problems & neuropathy.
After completing that, I was now cancer free, and like a broken record, my whole world stopped. The PET scan showed a cancerous nodule in my lymph node; due to the recurrence, I was "upgraded" to stage 2 TBNC Grade 3 Aggressive invasive mammary ductal carcinoma. Very life-changing news; I didn't understand why the chemo/radiation didn't cure me indefinitely. So I entered the fight less than one year after my original diagnosis. Mentally, emotionally & financially, I was not prepared for this; I was ready to get my life back. My finances were exhausted from the first diagnosis. Time off work, Disability did not help supplement my loss in income.
Underwent therapy and another surgery to remove the mass & affected lymph nodes.
After that surgery, I felt GREAT! Although I was doing great, recovery from that surgery Vs. 1st surgery felt utterly different. I finally thought that I beat it; I fought the fight and won.
Going to my routine check-ups, everything checked out great. So close to 6-9 months being cancer free, They found two nodules, this time 1 in the breast & 1 in the lung, both 1cm in size. The exact form of cancer is TNBC Grade 3. This time I had been "upgraded" to stage 4 metastatic. So devastated. I was on the road to recovery & back living.
My kids reached out to different doctors to see about 2nd opinions and clinical trials. Unfortunately, no one could provide me with a clinical trial due to my PDL-1 count being low. However, I'm strong, feel good and am determined to WIN THE FIGHT. We're attacking this cancer from all angles, mentally, physically, emotionally and of course, from a nutritional standpoint.
I have decided to take the holistic approach & raw eating.
Thank you all in advance for your support. The last two years have been the most challenging for my family and me. But, we will continue being positive and learning valuable lessons from this cancer. That's how we will WIN. My family and I have learned how to love more, live more and appreciate everything we have.
