Hi! My name is Jessica Gonzalez and I am currently a student at the University of Southern California. I recently moved to Los Angeles in search of a better future, opportunities for the generations after me, and to promote ambition to those around me.

Recently, my mother gave me the news that she, my siblings, and my dad would be moving out of my second childhood home. The monthly payment was not being made and the house would need to be evacuated on January 20, 2021.

My siblings and I went through something similar in 2008 when my father filed for bankruptcy on our home. This faint moment sparked the ambition in me to look for something greater: to seek higher education. Now, my family is going through similar financial hardship without any direction or me as guidance (I had been this guidance for them for the longest time before I moved out). They constantly work so hard in their warehouse jobs and I know that they have the potential to do so much more. I would appreciate any advice on finding affordable housing or jobs for them as they continue to move forward. As for financial assistance, any donations made here will be given directly to my parents to help with moving costs and for rent, while they settle in their future town.

I have found a community at USC that allows for me to show my truest potential and would appreciate anyone lending a hand to my parents in doing the same. Thank you so much for sharing and helping my family and me during these difficult times!
