Parents are fighting the Boeing Company’s plans to leave 95% of their toxic contamination behind at the Santa Susana Field Lab, calling it a "health-protective cleanup" and then turning it into a public park.
My daughter is a two-time survivor of an incredibly rare form of leukemia. She’s one of 100 children in our community whose cancer might have been prevented if the Santa Susana Field Lab had been completely cleaned up.
The Boeing Company owns the majority of the toxic site in the hills between Ventura County and Los Angeles, which was used for decades for rocket engine tests and nuclear experimentation. The Santa Susana Field Lab's soil and groundwater are extensively contaminated with long-lasting chemicals, toxic metals, and radioactive waste. There are higher than average cancer rates in the community.
We have to raise $60,000 this year to fight Boeing and try to win back a complete cleanup to protect our environment, wildlife, water, and our kids.
Your donation will go towards:
- A legal fund to stop Boeing’s dangerous “cleanup” plans
- A public air monitoring system to track Boeing’s contamination coming off-site
- Testing of the Los Angeles River for Santa Susana Field Lab contamination and holding Boeing accountable
Thank you for helping Parents Against Santa Susana Field Lab fight back against the Boeing Company, NASA, and the Department of Energy who care more about profits than they do about people. Together we can protect the environment, wildlife, water systems, and the people living near the site.
Warmly,
Melissa Bumstead
