Help Pareesa Heal After Devastating Burn Accident

We are Pareesa's friends and are raising funds to help her recover from a life-changing accident that left her with severe third-degree burns.

This past Sunday, Pareesa was in a horrific accident while cooking dinner with a friend. A grease fire suddenly broke out, and in the chaos of trying to stop it, a pan of burning oil was accidentally spilled on her. In just seconds, the flames covered her face, neck, arms, and back.

She immediately ran outside in shock and pain, collapsing on the grass screaming for help until neighbors rushed to her aid and called 911. After more than six hours in the emergency room, she was transferred to the Burn ICU at the University of Utah Hospital — one of the best burn centers in the western U.S. and her best chance at healing.

Pareesa sustained third-degree burns over a significant portion of her body and is now facing a long and painful recovery. She has already undergone emergency treatments and will require multiple skin graft surgeries in the coming weeks. Doctors expect her to be hospitalized and out of work for at least a month, with many more months of recovery, rehabilitation, and eventually, reconstructive surgeries to address scarring.

Unfortunately, the burn center is out-of-network with her insurance, meaning her out-of-pocket medical costs will be extremely high — all while she is unable to work and support herself.
