Help Paraplegic Danyell Rebuild Her Home
I am a first-time, disabled home buyer who purchased a home and the contractor took advantage of me, stole my money and left me with home repair problems I can’t afford on our fixed income. I am a paraplegic, disabled from the waist down and use a wheelchair. My son J’Niko is disabled as well because he suffers from Cerebral Palsy. We bought this house because he assured us that the house was sound and perfect for physically challenged people like us. The house is livable but started falling apart after we moved in. The most disturbing issues are: The plumbing lines lead to the backyard, the laminate floor panels have separated to reveal dry-rotted decking throughout my home and the straight toilet flange is not centered over the floor PVC drain pipe. I was promised all new floors but covered up known deck problems (termite infested plywood & damaged support beams) with a band-aid. He promised a new kitchen & bathrooms but installed sinks, dishwasher & toilets to drain pipes without making sure the plumbing was connected to the sewer system. When I wash dishes, you can see dirty water pouring down on the ground outside my kitchen window. At night, I have knats flying all over my bathroom. They come from my toilets and the air conditioning vents. I can hear birds & squirrels living in my attic but I don’t know how they got there. The repairman told me I need new plumbing, new floors and seals but I don’t have any money left after we pay the mortgage, utility bills and buy groceries. Please help me. Any help is greatly appreciated.
