Last night, my healthy 7-year-old cat Paprika needed an emergency stomach surgery to remove two obstructions, and I was given the option to either pay for it or put her down.

Even though I’ve been financially struggling, I signed up for a payment plan to get her the treatment she needed. She's got a couple weeks of recovery ahead of her, but she's doing okay now, thank god.

Though I've worked in the animation industry as a director and artist, I haven't had stable work in years. My industry is in a dire state and even finding work outside of my field has been tough. I don't have any savings left and was barely hanging on before getting hit with these massive vet bills.
