After becoming a father at 41, Lucas Budde finally understood the love people talk about when they become a parent. With a deep desire to create a future where men are more than just what you see on the surface. A future where Stella doesn't have to walk afraid down the street at night because the men in her community have found a community where they feel safe to share their stories. This is a lofty goal, but we believe the biggest changes happen in small pieces, a little at a time.

In looking for authentic stories from fathers, it turns out there aren’t many books or resources sharing the raw, unfiltered details of fatherhood from a dad’s perspective. And, what started as an idea for a book, became a podcast.

Eric Thompson, a father of adult children, and Lucas Budde a new dad launched the Pappy Hour Podcast on August 19th of 2025 with the very first episode and have been sharing a fresh pour every week since then.

It all began by interviewing dads they both knew, finding the humor and heart in stories that are unique, inspiring, sometimes cringy, and sometimes surprisingly similar. The more stories they shared, the more fathers came forward wanting to share, and that's what it's all about.

It’s the beginning of something truly special—a future where men talk to each other starts with honest conversations any honest conversations will do. So Pappy Hour is starting with fatherhood origin stories.

Pappy Hour wants to offer video podcast content, audio, live event etc. to reach all the dads. Setting up a studio in Lafayette Colorado allows the guys to stay close to their families. To do this, they need cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and editing tools—gear that will last and help consistently share new stories every single week.
