Help Papi Recover After a Vicious Dog Attack

As a teacher, my students and their families become an extension of my heart. Recently, I went to pick up one of my 3rd grade students, Maria, for a community impact project we were working on—feeding a local foster family. But when I arrived at her home, something was terribly wrong.

Her family was outside, and she was in tears. Their beloved chihuahua, Papi, was bleeding badly from the stomach. Amidst the chaos and a bit of a language barrier, I learned Papi had been attacked by another dog. I immediately encouraged her mother, Diecy Johanna Hernández Yusti, to rush him to an emergency vet.

The initial bill just to begin treatment was $1,883. Soon after, they received another bill for $1,089.06. Thankfully, the bites missed his internal organs—but Papi faces an expensive and painful road to recovery.

I know times are tough for many, but if you're able, any contribution will help ease this family's burden and give Papi the care he needs to heal. This dog is more than a pet—he’s family, especially to my student, Maria, who loves him so deeply.
