Hello, Rob's Oxygenators here and we are reaching out with a humble heart on behalf of our spouse, step dad, and papa; Rob Skagen. We are facing one of the most difficult times in our lives, and we would appreciate any support.

Rob has a progressive lung disease that now requires a double lung transplant to save his life.After exhausting all other treatment options, doctors have confirmed that a double lung transplant is the only chance for survival. He is currently hospitalized and will remain in the hospital until suitable donor lungs become available.

Unexpectedly Rob fell ill and was brought to Sault Area Hospital by EMS on Sunday May 25th 2025 . His condition declined very rapidly and he was put on life support on Wednesday May 28th 2025 . He was airlifted to Toronto General on May 29th and is in ICU waiting for a double lung transplant.

This journey has taken a deep emotional, physical, and financial toll. The road ahead includes major surgery, a long and intensive recovery, and many unforeseen expenses. His long time other half Terri has relocated to Toronto to be by Robs side. And while some medical costs are covered by insurance, the overall burden — including travel, time away from work, and extended lodging near the hospital — far exceeds what the family can manage alone.

Once he receives a transplant he will also need to stay close to Toronto General for a minimum of 3 months post transplant.

Monies raised will not only assist to alleviate the financial burden of relocation but it will also help with the added costs of the medications Rob will on post transplant ( medical coverage only covers so much of it).

We are trying to raise monies to help cover these critical expenses. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward saving Rob's life and helping our family through this incredibly challenging journey.
