This little grandson was yelling at his papa…I love you, Papa. I love you, Papa. I love you, Papa. Three times, louder each time until grandpa finally mumbled a whispered, “I love you!”
This little boy would not give up until he got a response. That is why we are asking for your help…we don’t want to give up encouraging, supporting, praying, and helping Leon and his wife, Annette (my sister). The burden is too heavy for them to carry alone.
Leon is 59 years old and has suffered at least nine strokes since November 28, 2022. He had to be airlifted out of the small town where they live to Oklahoma City.
This stroke caused Leon’s left side to be paralyzed. He also has bleeding and swelling of the brain which has caused the doctors to remove part of his skull to help relieve pressure. Leon still has several blood clots in his arm and one groin area which may cause more damage in the future. Leon cannot sit up, stand, or walk without two to three men helping him. He can only communicate with one word or points to what he wants or needs. He cannot get to the restroom and can barely feed himself. Leon’s life is very different than before November 2022.
I know my brother-in-law, Leon, as vibrant, excitable, fun, talkative, supportive, loving and active. Words that describe Leon are Papa, grandpa, husband, dad, uncle, cousin, friend, hard worker, provider, volunteer firefighter, EMT, ERS, Veteran of the Navy and Army, Christian, and a man who loves and helps others. He is the kind of man you would want as a friend.
Leon’s wife, Annette, works as a hospice nurse, however, Leon was the primary provider for his family as an electrician at the International Paper Mill. With the strokes he has suffered, Leon is now not able to be that provider and it will be very difficult for Annette to work and take care of all his needs.
He will need to have home and hospital care, physical, occupational and speech therapy, and all that that involves including travel and hotel expenses to Oklahoma City which is a 300-mile round trip. Plus, they will need medical supplies, house and car payments, groceries, and other everyday expenses. The list goes on …the need is astronomical. The need is also urgent and overwhelming.
From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible, give…any amount will help.
We thank you for your prayers and your support. God bless you for caring.
Thank you from
Leon’s Family
