Help Papa (Jeff Green) fight Multiple Myeloma

The Green Family is organizing this GoFundMe on behalf of Jeff Green.
Jeff Green is a hard-working man who loves God, his family, and friends. He loves construction and has been a contractor all his adult life. He has been active in his community as a Little League coach, and as a volunteer for Imperial County Sheriff’s Department, as the commander of De Anza Search and Rescue .
In January Jeff had lower back pains and the doctor told him he had a strained muscle. Jeff continued to be active and worked construction, preached at the Church he attends, and commanded his search and rescue team, but over the next few months Jeff’s back became progressively worse. Concerned he returned to the doctor who told him it would take time for the back strain to heal, but he would x-ray Jeff’s back. The x-rays came in showing some irregularities that looked like fractures. The doctor explained with the type of work Jeff did he could have had them for a long time. He then decided to run an MRI and by this time Jeff was having trouble walking, sitting, and sleeping. The MRI showed 10 fractures, and again he was told to be patient. Jeff and his wife, Becky, decided not to wait and went to a specialist that a friend had suggested. After going to the specialist, they learned that too much time had passed to cement the bones and there was nothing he could do. The specialist ran additional tests at Grossmont hospital. The results came back as another blow, there was nothing that could be done. Jeff’s spine began collapsing, and he had gone from 179lbs to 137lbs. The specialist called Jeff’s primary doctor and insisted he run blood tests. The blood tests came back, and Jeff was referred to an oncologist.
In July Jeff was finally diagnosed, he had Multiple Myeloma. Jeff now weighed 122lbs, and could no longer walk on his own, and could not use his hands. He could barely hold his head up and breathing was difficult because the spine had collapsed putting pressure on his ribs.
After five sessions of chemotherapy and radiation Jeff can use the walker again and is starting to gain weight, but this won’t last without additional treatments.
Multiple Myeloma is not curable but with bone marrow transplants they may be able to get him to a stage where his life will be better and the possibility of seeing his grandchildren grow up will be greater.
The Green family has started the Go Fund Me account to ease the burden of the medical costs, the costs associated with his transplant and collapsed spine. The possibility for the bone marrow harvest and transplant are coming upon us quickly and the medical team wants a signed contract that Jeff will be ready and have a place to live in San Diego before they will consider the transplant.
Jeff will need to travel to and live in San Diego for one week while the medical team harvests the bone marrow. Once determined the time is right Jeff will go into the hospital for 3 to 4 weeks for the transplant. During the time Jeff is in the hospital his family will have to rent a home close by. The transplant agreement requires he live near the hospital for another 3 to 4 weeks. Jeff’s wife Becky plans to take a leave from her job and stay with him. The house will have to be stocked for the entire month as they will not be able to leave or have contact with anyone except to take Jeff to medical appointments. As a result, their oldest son Steve will care for their eleven-year-old adopted son, David.
The agreement also requires a backup person that will need to do the same once notified they are needed. Due to the work Jeff’s sons do and their family commitments, the family may have to hire a caregiver to be prepared to step in.
This has been extremely difficult to ask for help, but we need your assistance to make the transplant possible and to aid him through the months after transplant.
