Aloha family, friends & anyone who is taking the time to read this page about our Papa.
On Tuesday Oct. 15th, 2019 our Papa Jaime Jimenez, 87 years of age of Kilauea Kaua'i was trimming his tall plum tree on the farm when he was hit in the head by a large falling branch that cracked his scull open and knocked him out. He fell to the ground unconscious causing double blunt force trauma to the front and back of his head. The branch fell from high up and too fast for him to move out of the way.
He was taken to Wilcox Hospital where they determined his injuries were critical. He was then Medivac'd to The Queens Medical Center on Oahu for immediate emergency brain surgery in Neuro Intensive Care Unit.
His wife and granddaughter arrived early the next day on the first flight to Oahu. "The surgery went well" the doctor says but at his age of 87 his ability to recover is questionable. He is going in and out showing very little to no movement on his left side and experiencing intermittent seizures. There is a team of 5 specialist linked to Papa's monitors constantly monitoring with highest priority 24/7. At this point family and close friends are being notified of the terrible accident and making flight arrangements & accommodations to be there with Mama and Papa.
Papa is receiving great care from the team of nurses that are constantly tending to him, brushing his teeth, keeping him clean & comfortable with medicines that are being administered 24/7. He is currently on a respirator in ICU and is unable to breathe on his own.
We were notified that generally 3-5 days are the most crucial and that Papa may not make it. He is scheduled for an MRI and we are all here praying together. The cost of Papa's hospitalization is enormous and grows by the hour as you can imagine. They're retired folks that live off of their fruits of labor with little income. We ask for your help in prayer for a miracle and any monetary donation you're willing to make.
We are so thankful for our caring friends and family. Thank you for help with accommodations and making sure that Mama is doing well. Most of all thank you for visiting Papa and showering him with your Love & Prayers. We feel blessed that he's made it this far. We want Papa to be back at the farm tending to his animals & garden with Mama where he's happiest. Please keep praying. Papa is a fighter!
