Help Pang, the James Bond of Cats, Heal from a Cruel Attack

Meet Panguins—Pang, for short. My friend Ann often jokes that Pang is her emotional support animal, but honestly, he fills that role more than she ever expected.

Pang went missing on July 11th. He’s an indoor/outdoor cat who loves soaking up the Texas heat, sometimes camping out under the hill country stars. But he’s never been gone for more than a day or two.

After a gut-wrenching seven days, Pang somehow made his way home—dragging a front leg that was completely useless. It was obviously broken. Those of us who grew up in the country know the dangers that outdoor animals face—coyotes, foxes, snakes, and the ever-present risk of cars.

Ann expected the worst when the vet called. But nothing could’ve prepared her for what she heard.

Pang’s injury wasn’t just a tragic accident. The vet found a nail and metal pellets embedded in his broken leg, likely driven in with such force that they believe it was intentional. A nail gun, maybe. Or blunt-force trauma.

The let is so messed up, that it is impossible to set. Amputation is the only option—but it’s not a simple one, and the surgery is estimated to cost over $12,000 if he needs a blood transfusion. He lost a lot of blood, so he's anemic, as well.

Ann has always stepped up to care for her animals, no matter the cost. But between this unexpected horror and a broken AC in the Texas summer heat, the financial burden is overwhelming.

I live over 2,100 miles away, and I can't be there in person. I can't take the place of Pang—her loyal, debonair sidekick who flexes his sleek cat muscles and demands his daily treats like clockwork.

In the cat world, Pang is something special—a real James Bond type.

I understand that there are many pressing issues in the world right now. But if you believe that the deliberate harming of a beloved animal deserves justice—and if you’d like to help give Pang the best shot at healing—your support would mean everything.

Thank you for reading and for caring.
