I was able to make many repairs to my automobile. But the funds obtained here stopped 3 months ago and have run out along with some cash I obtained from selling my personal belongings.
Three months ago Jo Carol helped me set up this Gofundme in the hopes that housing would settle down and I might make a down payment on a home where I could keep my 12 year old German Shepherd Dog, Austin, and have payments low enough to manage on Social Security.
Housing has instead continued to rise. Even the HOA in mobile home parks have skyrocketed. My rent has risen another $300. After paying rent I only have $600 left for medical insurance, home insurance, automobile insurance, utilities and food. It is no where near enough. I am trying to obtain some food from local charities. This is mostly canned foods (many expired) and such. My recent blood tests showed that it is affecting my health.
I am 70 years old and trying to hang on to the efficiency apartment that I found when I lost the home I had rented for 14 years due to owner selling it. I have been selling as many of my possessions as possible but there is little market for them.
My goal is to continue trying to find less expensive housing. If you know of anyone who can offer low rent or low mortgage payments please contact me.
Attempts to get noticed on lists for Hud housing have not had any luck. I haven't been able to obtain Section 8 assistance. There are thousands of people applying so it seems to be impossible. The majority of housing authorities in Texas have shut down. No waiting lists to sign up for.
I am desperate for financial assistance to keep a roof over my head. The damage to my spine keeps me in constant pain rendering me unfit for employment.
I am isolated here. No friends nearby. No one to talk to. I can't afford to go anywhere except to find food and supplies. I walk several times a day around the apartment. It's just me and my old dog, and his health is failing.
