Hi, my name is Zach, and I'm raising money to help my mom, Pamela, fight stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer.
Despite living a healthy life and never smoking, Pamela was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in early 2019. She developed tumors in her lungs and adrenal gland and tumors in the brain, causing an initial stroke-like condition that, thankfully, allowed the lung cancer to be initially diagnosed.
After radiation treatment for initial brain tumors, she was prescribed a targeted therapy, Tagrisso, which kept the cancer from spreading until this year.
In early 2021, the Tagrisso stopped working, and it was discovered the cancer had spread to other organs including the pancreas and liver, and new tumors in the brain were causing side effects such as reduced vision and blinking lights.
Since that time, my mom has been undergoing a series of chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments and more radiation treatments for the tumors in her brain. Each treatment of chemotherapy has had a 3 week recovery time where she is sick, weak, and has a compromised immune system.
Due to the treatments and symptoms of the cancer, as well as the dangers of working with a compromised immune system during COVID, Pamela has been unable to work since 2020.
Financially, she has survived on now-depleted savings, credit, and family help.
Pamela will be unable to work again until the symptoms and side-effects of the chemotherapy have been resolved and her immune system is healthy again.
All urgently needed donations will go towards basic living expenses such as rent and food, as well as medications and any treatments not covered by insurance.
Pamela is a wonderful, funny, and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loves knitting and canning and is known for her outgoing personality, making new friends wherever she goes. Please help her fight so she can continue to be a positive force and source of joy for all those that care about her.
We hope when you donate, you will provide a memory or funny story of how Pamela has touched your life, so your words can lift her spirits and remind her how many people love her.
Thanks for being a part of Team Pamela!
