Pam's Recovery from Spinal Cord Injury
Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and fellow members of Team Pam,
You may already know that while attending a concert on Oct. 9th, Pam had a fall resulting in a spinal cord injury and subsequent surgery. Pam has been working hard since then, making significant progress during 4 weeks of intensive in-patient rehab and on-going physical and occupational therapies to regain her strength and mobility.
At the same time, from her hospital bed, she has been navigating extensive home repair and remodeling necessitated by major water damage about a month prior to her fall.
Pam has made a lot of progress in her recovery but there is still a long road ahead - the nature of recovery from spinal cord injury is slow and nonlinear. For the foreseeable future, Pam will need regular in-home support to help with personal needs, complete at-home exercises, and work towards independence.
While critical, this support is not covered by insurance and, at $160 per visit ($40/hr, 4-hr minimum), will be very costly over time.
Pam has touched the lives of many people through her work as a family case manager at DHS and through her kind, lively spirit and tremendous love of animals. She is fiercely independent and slow to ask for help, so we created this page to give the many of us who care about Pam a chance to support her and her four-legged family through this tough time.
Whether you give what you're able, share this link, or leave some good thoughts, you are helping Pam focus on her recovery and work towards going home -- thank you!
