Hi Everyone – My name is Jane (Lawicki) Torres, and I’m creating this fundraiser for our dear friend Pamela Mitchell. Many of you know Pam as someone who has always given generously of her time, love, and energy. Now, after bravely battling acute myeloid leukemia (AML), she faces new challenges and urgently needs specialized nutrition care and private home nursing support.

Earlier this year, Pam underwent a stem cell transplant at Northwestern Hospital. While we are grateful for the support that funded her nursing care then, the transplant unfortunately failed.

Pam continues to fight AML with incredible strength, but diverticulitis has now made eating and digesting food nearly impossible, weakening her recovery. She is working to strengthen her system and considering options that could include surgery. With either path she follows, hospitalization and ongoing private home nursing care are expected.

The financial need is urgent. While Medicare or insurance may address hospital costs, home health care and specialized nutrition support are not covered. Caregivers charge by the hour, and these costs add up quickly, creating a significant burden for Pam.

This fundraiser is essential to ensure Pam receives the proper care she needs. Pam has always been more comfortable giving than receiving, but now she needs us. Every donation—no matter the amount—will be a blessing and a lifeline.
