This is Paloma. She was diagnosed with a very aggressive type of breast cancer (BRACA-1) this past December, at only 28 years old. In the first mammogram, there were

3 nodules detected - two in the breast and one in the armpit. She was also diagnosed with abnormal cervical cells.

Paloma is a single mom to a 4 year old little boy. She resides with her mom, who currently helps take care of both of them.

Paloma started chemotherapy back in January, and her first surgery is scheduled for July/2022. However, she is currently very debilitated and weak due to extremely low levels of both white and red blood cells. This has caused her to develop a fever, fatigue and difficulty breathing. Earlier this week, she was admitted to the ICU for ongoing monitoring and a blood transfusion, which will hopefully help her recover quickly to resume treatment. A few days later, her son, Ezra, was also admitted to the ICU and diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. He is presenting severe symptoms and currently being treated at the pediatric unit.

She is employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital, but has been physically unable to work since the start of chemotherapy. Her job was her only source of income, and without paid medical leave, she is now in a deep financial crisis. As a family, we have tried to help as much as possible. However, the cost of rent, food, medications, and commute to doctors’ appointments, is rapidly increasing and becoming too expensive for us alone. So we have decided to create this page for anybody who would like to donate to Paloma’s cause. She needs your help to win the battle against cancer and have the opportunity to live a full life, as well as to provide the best treatment possible for her little boy who is going through so much at such a young age.
