Help Palmer and Patty during his covid battle
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Danielle, I am Palmer’s niece and I am here to request help with added expenses during his stay in the ICU, as he battles Covid-related bi lateral pneumonia. On December 27 Palmer tested positive for Covid. As the week progressed, he just wasn’t feeling any better. On Sunday, Jan 2nd his wife Patty brought Paul to the Emergency Room in Ortonville. In which was determined he has bilateral pneumonia. He was then admitted being put on oxygen and to administer fluids with IV treatments of steroids and antibiotics. On Monday Jan 3rd he was then transported to Sioux Falls to their covid unit. Monday night seemed to be good the plan was to start weening him off the bipap to the nasal canual. By Tuesday night he seemed to be struggling with the nasal canual. So it was then determined that he would be transferred to the ICU and put back on the bipap for closer monitoring.
Jan 5 Patty talked with his Doctor..with the Bipap at 100% he was very critical and unstable. He now had extensive bad covid. They did a ct scan no clots in his lungs but there was a small one in his leg. They had to intubate him putting him on his stomach and into a medical induced coma while giving full doses of blood thinners.
He spends 18 hours on his stomach and 6 hours on his back. They started his nutrition feedings through his feeding tube.
He is still VERY critical but his vitals are stable. Most important factor is his lungs, they need time to heal. They have SEVERE Covid damage. By being in a coma paralytic state gives his body the time to rest and to focus on improving his lungs . There will be days / weeks / months before we see any kind of improvement! Even when he is eventually weened out of the coma he will have to then be transferred to a rehab area and depending on the damage may have many more months of therapy and treatments ahead of him:(
Patty is going to be making a TON of trips to Sioux Falls and back. This means multiple hotel stays, food expenses, gas expenses, time missed from work etc. etc. plus Palmers income being gone and not knowing if/when he will be able to go back:(That adds a lot of added stress:(
Palmer is a retired Army Veteran who served his country proudly for many years and never once asked for anything in return! Patty is always there to help when needed and would never want to ask for any help.
So I just ask if you can help them in any way I know it would help them out TREMENDOUSLY! To take away some of those extra burdens for them during this trying time would be so greatly appreciated ❤️
so please if you are able anything big or small would help! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
