My name is Thanos and I am fundraising on behalf of my colleague and friend Dr Jamil Sulaiman. Dr Sulaiman is the director of mental health services in the Gaza strip. He is a paediatrician who, after finishing his specialisation in Thessaloniki, Greece, returned to Gaza to offer his services to his fellow Palestinian people. The psychiatric hospital was bombed (photo) and so was Dr Sulaiman’s home, in the city of Gaza, and also the homes of his children. He was forced to move 16 times (the last time was recently when the area he was in was re-invaded by the Israeli army).

Dr Sulaiman is still working hard every day as a doctor and is looking after his community in any way he can. The money we will raise will be used to provide food and basic necessities to his community and patients. During our last communication he shared that, due the increasingly desperate situation in Gaza, approximately 20-25% of the amount of money that will be donated will be withheld by middlemen.

Συγκεντρώνω χρήματα για τον συνάδελφο και φίλο μου Τζαμίλ Σουλαϊμάν. Ο Tζαμίλ είναι παιδίατρος στην ειδικότητα, και επικεφαλής των υπηρεσιών ψυχικής υγείας στη Γάζα. Έκανε την ειδικότητα του στην Θεσσαλονίκη και επέστρεψε στη Γάζα για να προσφέρει τις υπηρεσίες του στην χώρα του. Το ψυχιατρικό νοσοκομείο βομβαρδίστηκε και καταστράφηκε (φωτογραφία) όπως και το σπίτι του Τζαμίλ και τα σπίτια των παιδιών του. Αναγκάστηκε να φύγει και τώρα ζει σε άλλη περιοχή στη λωρίδα της Γάζας. Συνεχίζει να δουλεύει ως γιατρός για να προσφέρει στην κοινότητά του και τα χρήματα που θα μαζέψουμε θα τον βοηθήσουν να αγοράσει φαγητό και είδη καθημερινής ανάγκης για την κοινότητά του.

Ο Τζαμίλ μιλάει άπταιστα Ελληνικά και είχε δώσει συνέντευξη στο The press project, στην Φάρμα των Ζώων, στην αρχή του πολέμου του Ισραήλ στη Γάζα.
