Hello,

My name is Ani and I'm raising funds to support my partner Paj as he undergoes gender affirming surgery. This two part surgery is going to be a life changing and long awaited step in his transition. One that will allow him to live comfortably and confidently in his body.

Gender affirming surgery is often viewed as harm reduction because it is associated with significant improvements in mental health and a reduction in suicide risk for many individuals. By aligning a person's body with their gender identity, these procedures can reduce psychological distress, depression, and suicidal ideation, thereby mitigating harm associated with gender dysphoria. To say the least, gender affirming surgery is life saving.

Paj and I are both low income on disability and will be facing a very challenging few months. We will be in Vancouver for two months, away from our home on Denman Island as there are many post op follow ups and a second surgery- five weeks from the first. After surgery, neither Paj and I will be able to work while he recovers. I will be his primary care giver during this time.

Needing to stay in Vancouver means extra costs for rent, food, gas, and daily living expenses. We also have to consider care for our dogs such as hiring a dog walker so they also get their needs met.

We are doing everything we can to plan ahead but the costs are adding up quickly. Any help you can give- whether its $5 or $50, or even just sharing this post would make a huge difference. Your support means helping him heal safely and without financial stress during one of the most important times of his life.
