Help Paisley Heal and Thrive
Donation protected
Fundraising efforts to assist Kyle Schultz (my nephew) and his wife Kayla with the medical bills associated with their daughter, Paisley Schultz's, road to recovery following a terrible accident.
As most parents do, my nephew Kyle Schultz and his wife, Kayla, used baby gates around the house to keep their toddler girls safe and away from danger.
On May 17, 2023 their Paisley Rana, 20 months old at the time, was standing at a baby gate and tossing toys into the next room. As all toddlers do when teething, she would sometimes "bite" at the top of the gate and in a heartbeat, life changed. Paisley's lips got caught in the metal clasp at the top of the gate causing Paisley serious injury.
Paisley came running with blood covering her face and neck and, initially, we could see that a large section of her upper lip had been torn away.
In the emergency room it became clear that the injury was much more extensive than we first thought with her lip being ripped up her philtrum, away from her nose and a large section of her lip had been completely torn off. Her cheek was torn past the bottom of her mouth as well as a small tear on her bottom lip causing most of her top and bottom teeth on her left side to be exposed.
Paisley has already endured 2 surgical procedures in Des Moines and 2 at Mayo Clinic. Each procedure for Paisley, involves missed income, overnight stays, meals away from home, more medical bills, not to speak of the emotional, mental and physical strain on the entire family.
Paisley's recovery involves a minimum of 2 more surgical procedures with the potential of more as she grows, long term orthontia care, more missed income, many more medical bills, etc.
We are asking for your help for this beautiful family. The emotional and physical duress and financial strain are continuing to grow.
They have received lots of support along the way, received in many ways, and it has all been greatly appreciated.
We ask that you continue to pray for this family and if you are able, consider a monetary donation, it will be greatly appreciated and used to assist in Paisley's long term recovery.
